Policy - Voice Devices

The Policy feature allows you to manage a group of voice devices of the same model with a single configuration, this also includes updating the device software to all devices in the policy group. Poly Lens creates a policy for each device model type (Trio 8800, Trio 8500, etc.), allowing you to easily jump into managing your devices.

Devices Supported

Note: In Poly Lens Device Settings and Policy Settings cover the same set of provisioning options. To provision a single device see Settings - Voice Devices.

  • Device Settings are applied to one device
  • Policy Settings are applied to a group of devices (one model type)

Edit Policy Settings

To edit policy settings of a group of devices see the following procedure. Note: The device settings in Poly Lens are a subset of the device options, and cover the basic settings for the device.
For detailed information on the device settings, see the the device Administrators Guide at Device Documentation.

  1. Go to Manage > Policy.
  2. Select Device Model.
  3. Select a device model to provision, from the Device Model list.
  4. Select a setting on the side tab, and modify as needed.
  5. Click Apply.
    Note: You can modify the policy, however you cannot apply the policy until Device Provisioning is enabled. See Enable Device Provisioning on an Account. Once enabled, the policy will be applied during the next polling cycle.

Note: ToolTips (question mark icon) have been provided on fields to assist you with setting the parameters.

SettingDescription
Filter settingsThis feature allows you to enter search parameters, resulting in displaying only the Settings that contain those parameters. For example: Enter "date". All sections that include date settings will display in the sidebar.
My SettingsWith this feature you can view and manage all the changes that have made to this device. See My Settings for detailed information.
General SettingsAllows you to configure the Date and Time, USB, System Settings, Power Savings, Customization, Bluetooth, System, Account Credentials, Power Management, Device Management, and Language parameters.
SecurityAllows you to configure the Certificates, SCEP, Security Banner, and Local Accounts (passwords) parameters.
ServersAllows you to configure the Calendaring, and Skype for Business parameters.
NetworkAllows you to configure the Wi-Fi, Network Options, QoS, Primary Network, Web Proxy, and DNS parameters.
Call ConfigurationAllows you to configure the Global Settings parameters.
Audio/VideoAllows you to configure the Content and Audio parameters.
Software UpdateManage the software settings for the Policy.

Software Update

The Software Update feature in a Policy allows you to keep all the devices in the Policy at the same software level.

  1. Go to Manage > Policy.
  2. Select Device Model.
  3. Select a device model from the list.
  4. Select the Software Update from the side tab.
  5. Select your software options:
FieldDescription
Autoupdate with Latest VersionThis option will update the software when a new version is released. The latest version that is applied will be displayed.
Note When this option is enabled the Download Source and Select Version for Update will no longer display.
Download SourcePoly Lens: This option enables the download the device software from the Poly Lens server. Then select the software version from the Select Version for Update drop-down list.
Customer Server: will download the device software from a custom server that you define in the Update Server Address field below.
  1. Click Apply.

Inheritance

To the right of each Settings field an Inheritance status is listed.

Device policy – Indicates this field has been set by Device (Manage > Inventory or Manage > Policy > Individual Device)
Device User Group policy - Indicates this field has been set by Device User Group (Manage > Policy > Device User Group)
Site policy – Indicates this field has been set by Site (Manage > Policy > Site)
Group policy – Indicates this field has been set by Device Group (Manage > Policy > Device Group)
Model policy – Indicates this field has been set by Device Model (Manage > Policy > Device Model)
Blank – Indicates this field is at the device default setting
