HDX - Concurrent Execution using Shared Resource with Improper Synchronization ('Race Condition')

Vulnerability Summary

The Poly HDX telnet shell is vulnerable to a command shell authorization bypass. This vulnerability could be used by a malicious user to gain unauthorized access to the system and information disclosure. Poly made changes to the HDX software to address a race condition in the telnet authentication mechanism starting with the commercial software build 3.1.1.3 to prevent this vulnerability.

Solution

Poly recommends customers upgrade to firmware build 3.1.1.3 or later.

 

Workaround

For customers who cannot upgrade to the fixed version, administrators can mitigate this vulnerability by disabling telnet on the HDX system.
