This week, small businesses take center stage as the country honors the critical role you play in the U.S. economy during the 50th anniversary of National Small Business Week. Karen Mills, administrator of the Small Business Administration, writes on the SBA blog that “Small businesses create two out of three net new jobs in our economy. And today, half of all working Americans either own or work for a small business.”
To ensure your continued success, this year’s National Small Business Week aims to provide you with more tools and resources. A number of cities are offering workshops, hands-on assistance, matchmaking and mentoring for small business owners on going global, social media, cyber-securing and more:
June 18 – Dallas/Ft. Worth, Texas
Even if you don’t live in these cities, or if the events are sold out, you can tune in via live stream at www.sba.gov/smallbusinessweek, and also join daily Google+ Hangouts for discussions with business and social media experts.
The week wraps up by honoring outstanding entrepreneurs from every state and U.S. territory and announcing the 2013 National Small Business Person of the year.
