Plantronics’ RIG 500 series was “built from the ground up,” but what exactly does that mean? I met with our Principal Designer in our industrial design department, Nicholas Paterson, to explain to me how our RIG 500 series came to be.
There is a place in Ireland called Giant’s Causeway. Sitting on the ocean, Giant’s Causeway is made up of about 40,000 interlocking basalt columns that resulted from an ancient volcanic eruption and the always evolving deep underground tectonic shifts. This unique place allowed us the build the overlying idea of the RIG 500 series. Giant’s Causeway is a unique, strong, durable, interlocking, and volcanic landscape. But guess what? So are the RIG 500 headsets.
The earthy and volcanic nature of the headset shows through the exterior and interior of the RIG 500 so you truly notice the intricate structure of the headset. Unlike any headset of its kind, the RIG 500 series takes interlocking pieces and morphs them into a lightweight and durable headset that is truly unlike anything you have ever seen or used.
