Did you know that on an unprotected surface, the number of stain and odor-causing bacteria can double every 20 minutes? Ick. That’s why Poly partnered with Microban® to protect your devices with their antimicrobial technology that works around the clock to keep your products protected from bacteria growth. To learn more about this exciting new partnership, we sat down with Andre Reid, Senior Director of Voice Collaboration Product Management at Poly.

Let’s start us off with the basics, who is Microban, and what does their product do?

Microban is a global leader in antimicrobial technologies and odor control solutions. Their formulations are integrated into a variety of materials during manufacturing to provide 24/7 protection against the growth of bacteria, mold, mildew, and algae. Their technology is extremely long-lasting, and it won’t wash off or wear away for the lifetime of the product.

Why is Poly partnering with Microban?

Microban has been a pioneer of antimicrobial technology for over 35 years and the company carries a rich breadth of experience, having worked with over 300 partners in industries spanning from textiles, consumer goods, commercial equipment, and healthcare. You might be surprised that everyday items like your washer and dryer, cell phone case, or even the socks on your feet might already be protected by Microban. So, the partnership felt natural. Bringing together Poly’s legacy in the communications market and Microban’s extensive experience in antimicrobial materials was a no-brainer and we’re excited to start this relationship.

Why did you choose to come together now?

Our partnership with Microban was spurred by the rapid shift in market concerns around cleanliness in the workplace as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. As we saw our customers placing priority on social distancing and cleanliness at work, we knew that we had to act fast to do our part to make the workplace safer. So, we’re thrilled to start integrating Microban’s antimicrobial product protection into Poly products so that our users can feel that much more confident while using our products.

In the context of this partnership, what does it mean that Poly has an “exclusive relationship” with Microban? Where do you see this going in the future?

Our partnership has just begun, and we see a lot of opportunity and synergy between our organizations.
