{"id":1983,"date":"2013-12-18T10:00:12","date_gmt":"2013-12-18T10:00:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.poly.com\/?p=720"},"modified":"2013-12-18T10:00:12","modified_gmt":"2013-12-18T10:00:12","slug":"2014-technology-predictions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.poly.com\/2014-technology-predictions\/","title":{"rendered":"2014 Technology Predictions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With the new year approaching I can only help but think of all the neat tech I will be using next year.\u00a0 Technology moves incredibly fast.\u00a0 Most items only last about six months before they are outdated or replaced by something more efficient.\u00a0 The top of the line today will be obsolete this time next year.\u00a0 So let\u2019s take a minute to look at some predictions of what will be on our store shelves next year.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Apple iWatch \u2013 Right now this is just a rumor, but most of the community is pretty sure of its existence.\u00a0 I bet we will see some sort of wearable tech made by Apple in 2014.\u00a0 It will be sleek and well built, and will have hoards of people lining up to get it.<\/li>\n<li>Google SmartWatch \u2013 Okay so we pretty much know this is being built.\u00a0 They have to compete somehow right?\u00a0 I bet we will see this by Summer, and it will be awesome.<\/li>\n<li>Steambox \u2013 For you gamers out there, Valve\u2019s Steambox has been teased for a couple of years now.\u00a0 It will be a linux based modular PC\/Console running a Steam OS.\u00a0 It will be the greatest thing for PC gamers since energy drinks.<\/li>\n<li>Less Desktop\/Laptop Promotion \u2013 I think it is likely that desktops and laptops will become even less marketed and sold than they are now.\u00a0 We have become so used to touch-based devices, I think companies are going to stop selling devices without it.\u00a0 This is really an easy prediction, considering Microsoft is stopping the sale of Windows 7 retail copies, and Windows 8 is really meant for touch devices.<\/li>\n<li>Cheaper High-Quality Tablets \u2013 I am hoping this one is true, but I really do think we will see cheaper quality tablets.\u00a0 As more companies start releasing Windows\/Android\/iOS based tablets, I think that we will see more competitive prices.<\/li>\n<li>Linux based Devices \u2013 I have been eagerly waiting for this to happen, and I think 2014 is the year.\u00a0 Linux based smart phones and tablets are bound to start releasing.\u00a0 There is a market, and the OS versions offer lots of variety.\u00a0 Some Linux based systems have already developed touch devices, and it is only a matter of time before one is released.<\/li>\n<li>Wearable Technology \u2013 I know we already have watches and headsets, but I think fashion will continue to mix with technology.\u00a0 I bet we will see rings, necklaces, bracelets, and obviously glasses that will be connected and provide some sort of function.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With the new year approaching I can only help but [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[508],"tags":[1117,448,1118,1119,1120,1116],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/blogs.poly.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1983"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/blogs.poly.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/blogs.poly.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.poly.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.poly.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=1983"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.poly.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1983\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/blogs.poly.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=1983"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.poly.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=1983"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.poly.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=1983"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
