{"id":1965,"date":"2013-09-04T10:00:56","date_gmt":"2013-09-04T10:00:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.poly.com\/?p=605"},"modified":"2013-09-04T10:00:56","modified_gmt":"2013-09-04T10:00:56","slug":"using-google-forms-to-survey-your-workplace","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.poly.com\/using-google-forms-to-survey-your-workplace\/","title":{"rendered":"Using Google Forms to Survey Your Workplace"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Google is a great resource for finding information on the web, but did you know it is also a great resource for getting information from your coworkers?\u00a0 Through Google Drive\u2019s Forms tool, you can make fantastic and quick survey\u2019s to poll your staff or clients, and easily view the results with little effort.\u00a0 And the best part is that it\u2019s completely free.\u00a0 All it takes is a Google account.<\/p>\n<p>First you setup a Gmail account, and if you aren\u2019t already using Gmail for your personal email, shame on you!\u00a0 Once that\u2019s done you head over to <a href=\"http:\/\/drive.google.com\/\">http:\/\/drive.google.com<\/a>.\u00a0 Here is where you have access to Google\u2019s suite of programs, like Docs, Spreadsheet, Presentation, Drawing, and of course, Form.<\/p>\n<p><img class=\"alignnone\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/imgur.com\/z3bob6N.jpg\" width=\"242\" height=\"495\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Once you select Form, you will have the ability to name it and choose a theme.\u00a0 You can then start creating your survey questions, and Google provides no shortage of ways to do that.\u00a0 You are able to adjust the question title, any instructions you wish to accompany it, the question type, and the possible choices if there are multiple answers.\u00a0 You are also able to make questions required, so that staff cannot continue until they have answered it.\u00a0 The question types include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Text Box<\/li>\n<li>Paragraph Text (simply a larger text box)<\/li>\n<li>Multiple Choice<\/li>\n<li>Checkboxes<\/li>\n<li>Choose From a List<\/li>\n<li>Scale Grid<\/li>\n<li>Date<\/li>\n<li>Time<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You can even add page break and section headers, allowing you to separate questions into groups by topic, or simply to not overwhelm your staff.\u00a0 Questions can be rearranged on the form simply by dragging and dropping where you want them to go.<\/p>\n<p><img class=\"alignnone\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/i.imgur.com\/uB0DRFx.jpg\" width=\"828\" height=\"718\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img class=\"alignnone\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/i.imgur.com\/evRJCgW.jpg\" width=\"811\" height=\"426\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Once you are finished creating all the questions for your survey you have only one step before you are ready to send this out.\u00a0 At the top you will see an area that says \u201cchoose response destination\u201d.\u00a0 This is basically asking where the answers to the survey should go. Google makes this very easy.\u00a0 Simply click that button, and a box will come up prompting you create a Google Spreadsheet to store the data in.\u00a0 You hit Create, and it is ready. \u00a0You can now Click \u201cView Live Form\u201d at the top to see your survey.\u00a0 The link on the top of the live form is what you want to place on your website or intranet site, or email to your coworkers to be filled out. Make sure not to send them the URL of your editing page.<\/p>\n<p> <\/p>\n<p><img class=\"alignnone\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/i.imgur.com\/HVX29ug.jpg\" width=\"579\" height=\"103\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img class=\"alignnone\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/i.imgur.com\/80YKQKG.jpg\" width=\"627\" height=\"324\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img class=\"alignnone\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/i.imgur.com\/2qX6vFH.jpg\" width=\"551\" height=\"106\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Once you get some responses in, the button that used to say \u201cChoose Response Destination\u201d will now say \u201cView Responses\u201d.
