interview with Joshua Topolsky of The Verge, Google Glass Product Director Steve Lee stated that the product should be making its way to consumers by the end of 2013. Original estimates put the products release at 2014 and some even at 2015, but Lee seemed confident of a 2013 release date.

“We are aiming on the team to have this out as a consumer product by the end of this year” Lee said. “In 2013, for regular people, a fully polished product. We don’t want this to be a niche thing. We think this can help every human being. So we look forward to this being used by millions and millions of people.”

Google Glass is one of those products that is so out of this world you can hardly believe it’s real. Although it’s tentative price tag of $1500 does help put its place in reality. Keep in mind that this is a non-mass produced price, and it may lower once it releases to the public. Hopefully we see a price point near $500 once it’s released. Take a look below to see the product in action.

For those of you worried about the look of Google Glass product, or your ability to wear prescription glasses, product director Steve Lee mentioned that they are going to try to expand on the look and design of the product through other vendors. This could possibly lead to deals with Ray-Ban, Oakley, Maui Jim, and other designers, although none are labeled yet. Lee stated, “Building an ecosystem around (Google Glass) is very important to our strategy. Right now we are working on a reference model for the prescription lenses, but we definitely want to partner with others.” As someone who wears prescription glasses, this helps put my worries at rest.

Although some are troubled by rumors of glass not being allowed in some locations (due to its ability to record things discreetly), many are tremendously excited for its launch. I for one can’t wait to get my hands on a pair, and see how they change business and life for me.
