As project manager, ‘urgent’ is my ‘normal’ gear. Lync gives me the opportunity to quickly get a hold of folks and make decisions in real time.

I constantly IM my contacts throughout the day so having access to IM from my iPhone elimates the stress I get when I have to be away from my computer during business hours. And you can turn on the call forwarding option in the app to forward calls to your mobile phone, so I never have to worry about missing my Lync calls.

I rely on the tagging status feature being on the other side of the world and down under I only have a small window of time to catch associates at HQ now I can catch them when they are online.
Also sharing desktop is a huge benefit when I collaborate and also for training purpose

Numbers 3, 4, 5 are all features that are now a natural part of my world. I had completely forgotten about that tagging feature, so thanks for that reminder! I also appreciate just being able to see if someone is “there”, whether in the office or somewhere else. I recall, in days of yore, having to get up and go see if someone was at their desk. No longer. Pretty cool!

By pinning those associates who I regularly collaborate with to ‘Frequent Contacts’ under the ‘Groups’ setting, I save myself time by not having to conduct individual searches in order to see who on my “team” is available. I rely on this time saving feature daily.

And the best part, once I knew it was possible to have Lync dial in the speakerphone in the conference room, it was SO easy- Just found the room on Lync and drug it into the call. On the fly even…. Thank for that tip Amy! Now I just have to get Lync on my Android and I’m good to go!

1. Voicemails are a thing of the past. In the “old” days, I dialed into voicemail and played phone tag with my co-workers and customers all day long. I used to receive over 10-15 voicemails a day; I receive less than 3-5 voicemails per week after Lync was introduced into or work environment. People that I work with know when I am busy, and they will contact me when I am available.

2. Smarter Working. Working where I will be most effective vs. Working where I have an assigned cubical and PBX phone. The PBX phone is an anchor. I am now able to collaborate effectively by locating my workspace on-the-fly based on what I am working on… Assigned cubicals are a thing of the past!
